Guys, I know this is the wrong area, but driving to table rock is just out of the question. I have no option but to night fish the next 2 months. I have only been once and LOZ is closest, dodging trees on truman sounds like a problem. Do I need both lights on the entire time even while fishing? Any baits, locations, ideas would be greatly apprecited.

Here are a few things you will need for night fishing on table rock lake......

1) boths running lights on at all times while fishing.

2) kevlar bullet proof vest.

3) a solution of sugar and water mixed in a spray bottle to spray on your fishing partner so the bats bother him while you're fishing.

4) a vessel big enough to make a 6' wake at idle speed.

If I can think of anything else to make your night fishing experence more enjoyable, I'll post it :D

How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait! rtj4bb.gif

Ha ha!! Good one S&M!! That sounds about right.

Seriously, though.

1. The law says you have to keep your running lights on... even while you're fishing but... nobody does it. The water patrol doesn't enforce it, as a courtesy. Obviously, you need to use them anytime the big motor is on. When you are fishing you should turn them off, but make sure to keep an eye out for passers-by-- be ready to flip them on if anyone gets even remotely close or comes toward you-- it is obviously dangerous not to because they can't see you sitting in the dark. I also keep a big spotlight handy, just in case they keep coming even after I flip the lights on.

2. A GPS is very handy. Before GPS came along, we fished all of the time at night and made it just fine-- but... at night it is easy to get turned around without a GPS, even when you are in an area that you have fished 1,000 times.

3. On LOZ, I love the Grand Glaize arm. The PB2 (public beach #2) ramp in Osage Beach is a very nice facility and it puts you right in the middle of good waters. Fish bluff ends, points, and main lake pockets that the river channel comes close to to catch'em. There are some HUGE bass in that area! Hang on to your rod!

4. Use jigs (I prefer big ones) and big worms (8-10") and crawdad imitation plastics-- all in dark colors (black, blue, purple).

5. Watch out for drunk idiots out there!!

Good luck!

Also when running at night, use that spotlight every 15-30 seconds to scan the water in front of you, and slow it down!

Last year I almost crashed into a parked houseboat sitting out in the middle of the lake with absolutely no lights on, and to make matters worse it was one of those pitch black nights where you couldnt tell the water from the land. I was only going 20mph and I still didnt see it till I got within 50 feet, and IMO that was WAY too close.

Be safe out there.
