riverrat Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Floated the Gasconade on wed. July 16. The river was up about a foot and a little dingy. The visibility was about 18 in. to 2 ft. There was a pretty good buzzbait bite early in the morning. All the bites were below the shoals next to the weed lines. Once the sun got up good, the bite slowed down. I tried a fluke quite a bit and did not get even a follow, which is very unusual for me. Caught a few on a chomper in the swift water. My buddy and I ended up with 30 total with the largest being a 17" smallmouth. Caught 8 largemouth,no spots. The size of the fish was good with only one less than 12". I did catch a white bass which is a first for me on the Gasconade.
