Members SamC489 Posted July 22, 2008 Members Posted July 22, 2008 Me, my Dad and my sister's boyfriend are going down to the norfork and staying at Gene's on Aug 9th. I realize that all of the water is high and have been down to this area several times, however we don't really want to get a boat, and would like to wade fish. I have been looking at the generation chart and it seems that recently, the mornings have been wadeable (sp?) on the Norfork. I was wondering if there are any spots within 25 miles or so of Gene's on the White that can be waded. Maps or links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sam
Terry Beeson Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Well, 25 miles might be a little tight in some cases... especially if you are talking trout. But, the Spring River out of Mammoth Spring, AR is about an hour from Gene's and no generation to worry about. Also, you might consider the North Fork of the White... Brian Wise can clue you in on what's going on there. But, if you are not set on trout, there are a lot of smallmouth opportunities in the area... Crooked Creek, Myatt Creek, South Fork of the Sping River, Buffalo River... all within easy reach of Gene's. There are quite a few more places. I'll bet the folks at Gene's can give you a head's up on current fishing in some of those streams... John Berry Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 They have been running eight units on the White since June 8. The only place that I know of is to go to Rim Shoals and have Gary Flippin ferry you to the bottom of the second island in the water taxi. RiverRunner Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 We should have some wadeable water (God willing) on the Little Red by that time. It should be good fishing when they finally slow up the generating. You might think about giving it a shot.
taxidermist Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Like John Berry said, so few places right now. There is a island at the mouth of Buffalo River and the hole at Buffalo City would be your best bet, but little wading at this point. We are getting another heavy rain here since about 2 AM and all this water goes right into Table Rock, Norfork and Bull Shoals lakes along with Buffalo River and the whole darn water shed. You might check with Rileys at Buffalo CIty and see if there is a way to be shuttled to the island theres a goo but of water there thats fishable.
Brian Wise Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 The North Fork of the White(MO) is very wadeable. It is completely different than the tailwaters though, and not within 25 miles. It's fishing really well right now though. Brian My Youtube Channel
Clay Goforth Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Another option is the triangle shaped eddy water at Bull Shoals Dam if you don't mind following the Catch and Release Management Rules. you can park and scale a small hill and fish from the bank. The water will be high but it is an eddy and you don't have to fight the current.
