Me and a few buddies are camping at the park in a couple weekends. We'll be Smallie and Trout fishing the river during the day and evening (maybe the spring for trout). My question is we were wondering about night fishing down on the river. Do any small catfish live in the deep holes on that part of the upper Meramec? I know they do farther down, but wasn't sure about there.

There may be catfish in that part of the river, but they are pretty hard to catch on flies and artificial lures. Remember that the regulation for the Meramec from highway 8 to Scott's Ford is flies and artificial lures when fishing for any species. Soft rubber bodied lures are specifically prohibited.

bikehikefish gave good advise, all you will see are trout, bass, and suckers. If you want cats come on downstream. I live and boat near the Rt 66 state park, near where the Big River enters the Meramac River. You will catch cats there. I've heard of good cats up near Meramac Caverns too.

The only good line is a tight line
