Members Jeff House Posted August 5, 2008 Members Posted August 5, 2008 Mike - I have made them before but there really isn't a pattern. Just buy the color of glue you want and get a wide gap egg hook. With a little practice you can form a good looking egg by putting just the right amount of glue on the hook shank and rotating it in your vice to form a uniform ball. I don't use eggs much but I made quite a few for a buddy and his son to use and he said they worked great (trout parks). I suppose if you wanted to get fancy you could lay a piece of egg veil on the shank before you started your glue and let it trail back behind the egg. Hope this helps ............Jeff

flyfishmaster Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 flyfshn, I have made a few as well just like Jeff indicated by rotating the vise a few time. To make them legal in in Zone 1 & 2 at BSSP or Zone 1 at MSP, just add few strand of white floss, yarn or Z-Lon to the hook first. Or after the glue has hardened, add some white hackle to the front of the egg(s). Have fun. later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
Trevor K Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Does anyone have any tips on where to buy the colored hot glue and what colors to get?
flyfishmaster Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 trevor, Here are a few sites to look at: JS Fly Fishing - Hare Line Glue sticks Wapsi Fly - Glue Sticks Also, if possible get two or three of the mini glu guns. It will save on wasting glue when changing colors. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
