lonkm Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 does any one have the Nav chip for BS? if so how much of the lake does it cover and are you happy with it? thanks
Martin Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Lonkm, I have the Navionic's "south" chip. It has Bull Shoals and LOTS more lakes in several states. It covers Bull Shoals entirely and I think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. The same chip has most every lake in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas. I believe it has like 11 states on it. The contour lines are pretty close together, but really accurate. The bigger screen you have on your sonar, the better.

mosouthpaw Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 navionics south 2008 has taneycomo. Its an awesome chip IMO. it has limited depth contours past fall creek upto the dam It shows little if any depth contours from the second island/koa up to the darn. I picked up 2008 at BassPro. The more popular Missouri lakes are High Def maps listing 1ft contours.
mosouthpaw Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 $149 includes all lakes in the South and Southeast. http://navionics.com/HMPremium08Catalog.asp
bigredbirdfan Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Help this dumb country boy understand what the heck this is?
mosouthpaw Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 gps lake maps. Insert them into your handheld GPS or your boat's GPS and viola you have accurate maps of the lake's shore and depth.
bigredbirdfan Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Sounds like Jedi voodo. And the cost for a handheld GPS? Sounds like a pretty expensive investment.
mosouthpaw Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 It is jedi voodoo.. the cost of the GPS units vary. $100+ They are an investment but they have nice features. You can mark underwater hazards, brushpiles, wrecks and more. It lists marinas, docks, ramps, many maps also include underwater tree fields/stumps. Another feature you can enter a course or waypoints. Forinstance if you run a section of a river that has a chanel mark the chanel and it would aid in nighttime navigation or help a newbie learn the chanel. If you want to hit a spot at night you can mark it and make your way to that mark.
