Ok it was cold today and my old faithfuls just werent working. My number one all time fly at bennett is a pheasant tail but nothing seemed interested in those. I ended up going through my entire arsenal and ended up using a size 18 scud. Worked well on the smaller ones. I saw A LOT of top water action so I used a 16 elk hair and got some really fun top water action. It was cold so I only stayed about 3 hours but had a good time. Oh ya don't tell anyone but there are some BIG BIG BIG trout in there this year. I saw some that I would have sworn were 5+ lbs.

Oh ya, Can anyone tell me why the nymphs werent working? It might be a time of year thing. I must admit, I am fairly new to fly fishing and tying, so if any of you would care to shed some of your experience please feel free. Good luck and happy fishing!!!!

dp, How much company did ya have, and which zone did you see the lunkers in ? I'm thinking about going down tomorrow (Wed.) to see if I can get my picture taken with a fat Brown or Bow, and to practice some soft-hackle presentations.

A thunderboomer or two is in the forcast so that may keep the crowd down.

Simsmarine, you were right. Threatening thunderboomers did keep the crowds away and it was great! Fished from noon to 2:00 today, Weds, 8th, and winds variable (at times calm to 20 mph) in Zone 1 and place was almost deserted. Temps were mild and very comfortable. Caught 10 nice ones, all 12"+ range on #16 crackleback. I rarely fish Bennett except during the catch n release season, favoring Taneycomo. Just happened to catch Bennett on a good day and almost had the place all to myself. Soooo, we never know. If you fished it today, hope yours was a good one, also.

Is anyone going to go tomorrow -- looks like serious rain all day!

Possibly some real heavy stuff.. so the fishing should be great!

I might be hitting up Roaring River instead, though with Taney in my backyard I might just fish here.. but I am glad to see the action on the board 'cause people are going to the parks again.

best fishes all - Brian

Just once I wish a trout would wink at me!

Hi guys thanks for all the replies. Sorry i havent been keeping track. Anyway if you go to bennett during the week (like some of you have mentioned), you definately avoid the huge mass of people. Its the only time I'll go now. Anyway i enjoy reading all of your reports and responses!! Oh ya I saw the Jaws of life trout in zone 2. They might still be there. If you catch a lunker let me know I'd love to see it!!!
