Members stealthycat Posted August 17, 2008 Members Posted August 17, 2008 I'm in central Arkansas, but go to norther AR (Norfork) quite often. I've got an older Shawnee 22' river boat that needs something, the fiberglass is faded. Anyone know anyone maybe that does that? I've looked into the Armor Clad vinyl stick on covering stuff .... just don't know how durable that is?
mosouthpaw Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 have you used a marine rubbing compound to see if you can buff out your oxidized gelcoat? try this kit before you spend money painting. http://autogeek.net/fiberglass-restoration-system.html

Best place around here is Championship Marine....located in Highlandville about 15 mins north of Kimberling City...Call Kelly and you will surely not be dissapointed..they can do just about anything..
taxidermist Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 First use "the Works" on the hull. it the bathroom cleaner section at Wally World. it will remove all calcium build up almost instantly without lots of hard work. Plus it degrades quickly. I used it on a shower that CLR would not cut, and "the Works did the job in seconds. Then buff out the gelcoat with buffing compound and a buffer (a drill is to powerfull) this will bring back all the color. Then you can use a good grade of fiberglass marine wax. "west Marine" and the boat will look like new.
