Forsythian Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I'm thinking about making a day trip this Sunday... the way the water's been dropping, I'd guess the lake level will be somewhere around 679. Buck Creek is a little like Beaver Creek... within the park there are several roads meandering around, so I would guess that a guy could find a place to launch. Last weekend we launched at Beaver Creek with not much difficulty. Has anybody launched at Buck Creek recently? How about Elbow? thanks a bunch Cenosillicaphobiac

Forsythian Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 Thanks lonkm... I guess that's the conditions at Beaver Creek park as well... not the backing part, but the pitch is pretty shallow and you do have to get your feet wet. When's the last time you went? Is the water up to where the road is still paved (where the docks on the right are moored)? I was hoping somebody's been to Buck Creek (or 125 for that matter)... I sure miss that part of the lake! Martin Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Forsythian, even when BS was at it's highest, they had good roads to launch off of at Buck Creek. The one I saw everybody (from my boat) was sloped pretty good. I'd think Buck Creek launching would be no problem. Give them a call.

I was at Elbow today and got my feet wet. I turned around at the road to 'elbow ranch, very rocky. knocked the pin off my trailer for the motor rest. Too many skiers there now. Will wait till the holiday is over. Good Luck!!

If there's too many skiers at Bull Shoals, can you imagine what Table Rock must be like? I think I'll take Martin's advice and give Buck Creek a try on Sunday. I'll let you all know how that goes. Martin Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I launched at Beaver Creek campground this morning at about 7:15........I finally found enough slope to launch my fairly large deep vee the 3rd road near a dock tied up to shore. What's amazing is that I ran up towards Barker Hole and trolled leadcore for walleye, with a variety of lures, all the way to Powersite dam. No takers but LOTS of shad and small fish on the sonar. Ran back to just above Barker and whacked a fat 22 incher after I changed to big deep divers on Fireline. That was about 11:30 a.m. so I stayed another hour and a half and had zero action....... Not a great report for sure, but at least I got to see a walleye again...... lol.....I think thingsd should get going real soon.
Forsythian Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 Hey Martin, I made that trip 2 weeks ago, but was stopped about 1/2 mile short of Powersite dam due to a huge amount of flotsam... did you see this as well? On Monday (9/1) we put in at the end of Elbow (on the Protem side). We didn't fish, we just motored around and explored between Lead Hill and Fine Addition. I sure do love that part of the lake... holiday weekend, and we saw maybe a dozen boats all day. Cenosillicaphobiac
