jjtroutbum
Sent out most every day. I do have a feeling that most left in the area are those that have learned to be better prepared and to go while they can this time. But there are still some that need to be watched better this time around. I won't comment on the gun grabbers from last time. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=632_1190169940 Jon Joy ___________ "A jerk at one end of the line is enough." unknown author The Second Amendment was written for hunting tyrants not ducks. Rusty
Lets hope that FEMA and George Jr. can get things fixed right this time, should the worst happen. I am a little confused about this statement. The last time I checked the feds can not come into a state unless they are asked to by the Governor. So what was that FEMA and Jr. did that needs fixed? You would think too, that being four feet below sea level, common sense would also play a roll in some sort of responsibility. Blaming Bush and FEMA should be the last people on the list to be pointing fingers at, wouldn't you think? I did notice that the Governor has already requested the assistance of the National Guard. And New Orleans is using all the mass transit vehicles they can get their hands on to move people that want to leave. Good for them! Lessons learned from the 2005 mess. My prayers go out to all that this storm may affect.
Thom
Rusty: The whole northern coast of central Europe is several feet below sea level. Much more than 4 ft. The goverenments there have taken proactive measures to take care of it. I saw a film on modern miracles where huge walls were moved in and out in the seaports automatically as storms are detected from the treacherous northern seas there. Those storm are category 3 to 5 often and there is never a cathasophre. Of course the governtments there do not give away billions of tax payers money to solve every other country around the world problems either. They take care of their own first. It is a political problem that can be laid at the feet of both parties Dem and Rep for neglecting the 4th largest seaport in the world.....New Orleans. It is in the national interest to secure that harbor for national defense and enconomic security. If we can send a man to the moon and every politician from both parties to tour every country in the world to find out what you can by watching the travel channel on cable and of course get some photo ops for elections ..... then we can surely afford to secure New Orleans. crappiefisherman
Thom, I agree money is spent unwisely and we are trying to have all theworld indebted to us.But, New orleans has been in the same location for i dare say close to 200 years and hurricanes have come and gone. And most if not all of the flooding came from failed levees., of exsisitng waters.I am not happy with the fac t now every time a storm hits the gulf we all have to pay higher gas prices cause we loose a million and a half barrels aday.Just a drop in the big picture. And who knows how many million dollars we as americans lost giving away to some that did not deserve it,(I didnt say who needed it).I pray death and destruction are to a minimum, but for petes sake.its under sea level. If they arent smart enough to fix it , let it flood. Thom
There is a way to fix it but everytime the money is allocated they never complete the job. As I said before which you must of missed European nations on the north coast have been doing it for years They gave up on levees in the 30's and have a soficticated line of sea walls that move in and out of ports, rivers and inlets with tides, high winds and huge north atlantic storms that come in monthly. They work fine and have replaced the dikes and levees which constantly fail/ Thom Harvengt

Rusty
The point I am trying to get across Thom is, living in this great nation allows each and everyone of the choice to decide where we live. If you live in an area where the chance of flooding is going to happen, you had better darn well have a boat handy. Don't gripe about how the government failed. They didn't tell you to live there. Some people have lost all acceptance of responsibility.
