flyfishmaster Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Well after multiple planned trip and "Vetoed" kitchen passes all summer long, I have finally found a date I can make it down to BSSP. It is going to be Saturday Sept 20. This is going to be my first trip back since Opening Day. I cannot wait!!! I will be bring along 2 buddies, one that has been flyfishing with me for a few years now and new guy. (He want to know how to catch and release more than 5 fish in a day.) So I think it will be a blast. Anybody else planning on that weekend? BTW: Does Winter Catch and Release start on Friday Nov 14th? Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
DoveTail Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Yes, the 2nd Friday in November is the 14th. The winter season is Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday only each week until the 2nd Monday in February. That's Feb 9, 2009.
rcguy Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 My anniversary is the 21st so that's out for me. I'll be going in October though.
Bman Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 FFM, Do you ever get down to Taney? The only good line is a tight line
flyfishmaster Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 BMan, I have only gone 6 times in my life. With the water conditions this past year, it just did not seem like a good idea to drive 4 ½ hours to not know what kind of water I was going to have. I took me 3 trips just to figure out how to fish the low water condistions, then each time after that I had some good success. But I would love to get back down there again. later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
Members FLYFISHINMAN Posted September 6, 2008 Members Posted September 6, 2008 FFM, I am from Columbia, Il. and I too wish I could make it down to Taney more often. You do not need to go to any trout parks or drive 4.5 hours to trout fish in the winter. They stock Jefferson Lake in Forest Park and several other lakes around St. Louis each winter. This usually starts around the same time the trout parks start their catch and release. Actually, a few of the lakes you can keep them and they restock every few weeks. You may have already known this, but I thought I would mention it. I fish more in the winter than the rest of the since I don't have to drive so far. Dave

We are staying at Riverwood Resort. Hope to see you there!! Scott
rcguy Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Hope you all have a good time. I need to check on Riverwood Resort. My wife, parents and I stayed in one of the duplexes in the park a few weeks ago and it was fine EXCEPT for the beds! Like sleeping on box springs only!!!! Very bad. Never do that again.
flyfishmaster Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 Heck the only thing I'm worried about now is if the stream is going to be fishable by next weekend, with all the rain the is except to come in the next 3+ days. later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
Paola Cat Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I'm thinking about going down this Sunday. I'll post a report on the water conditions. FFM ... yep 11/14 for the sart of the C&R. PC Cheers. PC
