trizkid Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 arrived at the park around 6:15 the line was to the highway........a pretty decent amount of people fishing all day long......lots of little minners out there a 13iner was rare for the day......used a cheese color trout worm all day managed to catch a good amount of fish......towards the afternoon i was just letting the worm dead sink to the bottom in the granny hole.....was getting them to hit it about 1ft off the bottom caught proly 10 fish doing this.......it was a good day , a little to crowded for me ...i usually come down during the week when there barely anyone there.......one thing did happen that pissed me off incredibly, my two buddies and I were sprend out fishing from the line too were the stream dumps out and meets with the other half. all of a sudden a group of about 8 kids, all 10 or younger with no parents insight, just come stomping in to the stream screaming and yelling.......and start to #$%# swim in the stream directly in front of my buddy fishing, literally five feet from him, were he was casting. i was further downstream and heard all the yelling at turn my back to see my buddy with a furious look on his face, he just turns around and walks straight back to the bank......the group of kids procced to make their way down stream and basically completely surround me while they are running back and forth and laying down and drifting down stream I also headed straight for the bank.....I dont know if that would piss anyone else off, but it did me the spring is not the place to be letting your kids swim around and go crazy ....plenty of other places to do that.. TrIzzout
Members BKB Posted September 5, 2008 Members Posted September 5, 2008 No swimming allowed at Maramec Spring or any of the trout parks!
DoveTail Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I can't recall where the signs are there, but most parks have signs stating "Wading by Anglers Only". I guess since they were swimming, that wasn't considered wading???
trizkid Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 these kids were little shits...jumping around screaming bare foot most of them, its just the fact that not even there parents cared enough to tell them that if they are going to get there feet wet to do it away from people not @#$@ 3 feet in front of people. TrIzzout
10pointer Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 sorry to hear that, montauk gets alot of that. It definitely ticks me off, i know montauk has the same problems mostly from people who havent been there before and go to the springs. Last trip i bit my tongue as the spring area isnt worth a hoot anymore, but i had a whole family walking up and down the stream right by me grabbing big rocks so they could try to dam up pigeon creek coming in. I could tell they didnt know any better so i just let them have their fun and i moved downstream. BUt i definitely know exactly how you feel!!!!!!!

I feel your pain, yes there is no swimming, and yes I have had the same happen to me. I've even had them jumping off the bridge at the end of the park, almost on top of me. But consider this. Ya ever heard of shuffeling? kicking? the Tanneycomo 2 step? Well these dudes are stirring up the bottom for ya. Next time fish immediately down stream from them. The fish will be biting like crazy, little nymphs, scuds, jigs. Watch out, if you cast too close ya might hook a big sucker So next time just take advantage of the situation. The only good line is a tight line
trizkid Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 hey bman i never looked at the situiation like that, sounds like a good idea......your a glass is half full kinda guy eh TrIzzout
Bman Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 At first I had your reaction, then once I chilled out, I realized quite by accident that the fish were stirred up and hitting! One can usually find something positive in any adverse situation if you are open to it. So it is with life in general. Thats the way I try to look at fishing, by looking for any opportunity in any situation. The only good line is a tight line
