Tonight i went fishing down below the springfield lake dam and saw a whole bunch of spoonbill. they were cool to watch. anyways i was catching some perch and just wading around when three guys showed. I didn't really pay them any attention until i saw two snagging rods show up, and they started catching spoonbill. I did everything i could to find the greene county agents phone number and i couldn't. i am sure this is not the first time these guys have done that. If anyone knows the agents name or phone number i would appreciate having it..... thanks.

I think gigging season opens up monday but i know that snagging season has been closed for awhile. To bad they didn't get caught. And as it goes for the green county agents i usually don't see them over there. Ive fished springfield lake alot and only been checked 1 time at the warm water outlet.

This is probley more trouble than killing a deer out of season I wish they would have been cought . I got the number agents number from the sheriffs department one time when I needed it.

it is where you put bright lights on the front of your boat and drive around a stab rough fish with a gig

THAT sounds fun. So what is legal? Carp, Drum, Buffalo, Suckers? What else down there. Surely not spoonbill. ANd can you eat spoonbills? I am learning SO much. So you are telling me I need a front platform for my boat? And are bows legal during gigging season? How long does it last. And why wouldnt it be leagal all the time to get rid of those rough fish? THank you guys So much.

all nongame fish are leagal from sept 15 to jan 31 to be taken by gig.I believe bows are leagal all year. spoonbill are a game fish and can olny be taken from march 15 to april 30. spoonbill dont bite they are filter feeders and if you hook one before march 15 or after april 30 it must be realised. my buddy snaged one 2 weeks ago on a deep diver trolling for whitebass at Truman.

We snag a few paddlefish in eastern kansas but dont keep them. Can you eat them? I mean we snag them on jigs etc.

ALso, after gigging a bunch of TRASH fish, what do you do with them? Would make good stink bait if you need a recipe. Hope you live out of town tho. We used to make it all the time from carp etc.
