So I'm planning on floating a local creek here in Northwest Arkansas this coming weekend. This is a great creek with loads of fat smallmouth, spots, and big bass. I've been watching the USGS guages, and it looks like the water level will be back to perfect by Sunday. My question is this: What does the influx of big cold water do to the fish a week afterward? We're going to have stable weather, cool in the evenings and moderate and sunny during the days from now until then. Do they lock up after the big water recedes, or do they feed hard since they've been hunkering down for a couple of days?
