Members hunter@heart Posted October 10, 2008 Members Posted October 10, 2008 I am going to be taking the kids down to Dry Run Creek this Saturday. Anyone have suggestions on what to use while we are down there? This is our first trip down this year. We have been down the last couple of years. We usually do well on white woolys, red or pink San Juan worms, and egg patterns. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Matt

Members hunter@heart Posted October 13, 2008 Author Members Posted October 13, 2008 Well, we made it to Dry Run Creek on Saturday afternoon and had a great day. Ended up having a buddy of mine tag along and bring his daughter and nephew and I had my four kids, so we had a big crew. Luckily the fishing was good and all of the kiddos got to catch a fish. Seemed that the browns were hitting better than the rainbows. We landed four or five rainbows and probably 10 or 12 browns between everyone. My buddies daughter and nephew had never flyfished and never caught a trout and both of them got their firsts. My daughter caught and landed her first trout solo and my three year old got to tangle with his first trout. We had a great day fishing and it was a great day to be out. I will try to get some pictures posted. My oldest son is eleven and he caught a 20" brown that was just shy of being 10" in girth. It was a great fish. He was really proud and so was Dad. We caught most all the fish on a egg pattern, San Juan worm (red and pink) and Wooley Boogers (white and green). Also caught one or two on a zebra midge.
