Members jasond Posted October 11, 2008 Members Posted October 11, 2008 Hey guys, I will be down next weekend, the 17-19 with a buddy of mine from Sedalia. We will be putting in at Sterrett Creek. I was wondering if anyone had any pointers as far as where to go(main lake or creeks) and what they are bitin' on. I have only fished Truman 1 other time for a single day. I am not in the Tournament as we are just fishing for fun. We are looking to catch LM and Spotted Bass as well as Whites if the wind starts blowin' on the points. The time I was at Truman, last May, we did OK using a jig/craw shallow. We tried using spoons on the "Weir" as recommended by Longshoal Marina but we had no luck. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated, this is my first year as a bass boat owner and I am learning alot about boating and bass fishing. Thanks in advance and thanks for this site. By the way, I will be in a Black/beige Ranger 374V with a Merc 150 xr4 if anyone is close, stop by and say hello. Jason.
shaker Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Check out Sterettcreek.com, they have the best fishing report own the lake. Sometimes Bucksaw.com puts one out. Good luck, the fishing should be great!
redbird Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 If the wind is blowing the main lake points will be the ticket, try pop-r's, chug bugs, roostertails, anything shad like top or bottom. Word is this week the largemouth bite has been back up in the creeks and long narrow coves on the secondary points for largemouth. The thing about Truman I have found when fishing for whites when they really get going in the fall, the Largemouth are in different areas. There are only a few spots that I have found them mixed together. With the weather set to change this week the whites should get going on the points for real. Early forecast for next weekend has partly cloudy and highs in the 60's (lets hope windy too as I will be down there too). Good Luck! Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.

If so be sure to look me up always like to put faces with names, Name on my shirt is MCJIMSEY No, I havent ever fished a tournament. My boat, when running would get me laughed at with all those shiny decal wrapped rigs. I have a 16' alum lowe with a 50 hrs johnson. But other than family and work fishing is what its all about, and I live close to Truman. This fall, until I can save the scratch to fix the lower unit you might see me wading and flyfishing some whites out on the points. Hopefully the boat will be fixed by the time the largemouth start hitting topwater next spring back in the creeks. If you see me stop and say hey. Just dont run over me out there. lol Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.
bclift65706 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 until I can save the scratch to fix the lower unit I might have seen one of t hese at oasage bluff lodge in the weeds behind the motel dont know if they would sell or not I might have one electric shift it might be a 60 hp or I use to have one anyway.I have a 55hp and the shift dog wore out it wouldent go in reverse at all and barley in forward just the parts alone was $650 I found a moter that was junck for $100 and changed out the lower unit. what year is yours and what is wrong

The whole lower unit is shot, a tooth or broke off of one of the gears and chewed the whole thing up inside. A reman will cost about 1500 installed. I know its killing me the boat isnt worth anything without the motor and the engine is in fine shape but the lower unit is shot, and fixing them is darn expensive Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. bclift65706 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I will keep an eye out for one sometimes I run across stuff like that
