flyfshn Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 A couple of neighbors planned a trip to TC and invited me and another neighbor, but we declined......daughter just had braces installed At the lst minute, the wife told me we should go and relax for the weekend, so we decided to go. Thursday after work, we loaded Tim's camper and headed for Table Rock State Park! We were pumped, just the 4 of us, heading for TC to relax and do some fishing, with beautiful weather.......doesn't get any better than that! Friday, Jimmy and Tim left at 6am to meet with Dave Welch, their guide for the day. They fished from 6-10 and 3-7 and caught many fish. Jimmy is going to post a fishing report, but they caught many fish, but not any lunkers........but Tim did catch a nice 17" smallie up by the wire. I will try to post a pic of that beauty when he sends me a copy. John and I fished between outlet 1 and 2 and later between 2 and 3, but we were skunked! First time at TC that I did not catch a single fish. I threw just about everything in my box, but no luck. I met Tighlines down at outlet 2....was a pleasure metting you. They were running 4 generators until 10pm, which was about 30 minutes after we were sawing logs......yes, we were all very tired. Saturday morning, we slept in, ate breakfast, showered and heading down to do some fishing. By the time we made it to TC, they were generating. We decided to head over to Lilley's Landing to get some fishing and tying supplies. Phil was there and after talking about some different flies, he suggested we take a boat out and do some fishing because they were probably going to generate the rest of the day (Many thanks to Phil and Marsha). What an excellent decision!!! We fished all afternoon, drifting from the cable, down to Fall Creek and then back again. I have never fished from a boat on TC and what a blast it was. I fished a white jig I bought from Phil and caught fish all afternoon. Jimmy was kind enough to run the trolling motor for us! What a beautiful afternoon! All of the fish I caught were bows ranging from 14-18" and they all had great color. Saturday evening, Jimmy and I went down to TC to see if anyone was fishing, ahhum Leonard. There were about 7 guys fishing, but they were still running 2 gens, so it was still pretty fast. We meet Hoot, who was just calling it quits at outlet 2. Sunday morning, they were running 2 gens and later opened 1 more. Caught 1 nice bow just past outlet 2 on a tan scud scud size 18........and then it was time to go home!! For those of you that live near TC, you are very fortunate!! I acutally went to work this morning and I was totally relaxed! Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Tightline Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 It was good to meet you too Flyfshn. It was pretty tough fishing friday mourning, but I am glad you guys got a boat and got to catch some, you all had come a long way and deserved to catch some. They weren't supposed to be running water friday mourning, after me and my brother-in-law got there and seen the water rolling we just about turned around and went to get his boat. Maybe next time you guys come the water will be off all day and you can get some quality wadeing in. Have a good one, Tightline.
flyfshn Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 Get out.....Leonard, do you still have the van that has your logo on it? Where were you fishing? We didn't stick around since they were generating. Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Members jmt111 Posted October 15, 2008 Members Posted October 15, 2008 Hi all; this is my first post. I have enjoyed all the outstanding tips and reports for around a year now. When I told Mike that I had not yet posted anything yet he of course asked why, my reply of course was "what could I say that someone more in the know than I has already or will post". Now, I do have something to tell and as I pointed out it will be nothing that we all have not read before on this forum. Everything Mike said was spot on,without enough emphasis on the outstanding courtesy and friendliness of Phil. Not only did he probably save the day (possibly the weekend) for Mike and another of our friends by recommending we take a boat out to allow us to better cover the water. I say for those two simply because; as Mike pointed out, Tim and I were fortunate enough to take our second trip of the year with Dave Welch and have an outstanding day of fishing just the day before, while Mike and John persivered the high water and the sometimes overcrowded wadeable spots to only be skunked for the day. Phil met us at the ramp to bring my reel back to me that I had dropped in the parking lot at Lilly's Landing. Now I hadn't even realized that I was without it yet so I was quite impressed that he would take the time to run up the lake to return it to me; not to mention that I still don't understand how he knew it was mine to begin with. Now I have read many other posts of people speaking of the great kindness that Phil has extended to them on a visit to the resort and now I have seen it myself, and I must say it is a refreshing to see someone operate a business in a destination area with this type of visitor friendly attitude. I am not by any means saying this attitude is isolated to Phil alone, as I said this was my second trip to TC this year. Everyone I have come into contact with in the Branson area have been nothing but "good people". Thank you all. I won't try to give a fishing report since, I won't be able to give any insight further than anyone else has this whole year. All I can say is fish hard and you will be successful. Don't be afraid to try anything and try often. It seemed to me that the first couple of swings with something different are the best chance for hookup. Unfortunatly we didn't catch anything of great size, just numbers. I was really looking forward to meeting the imfamous "beaver wrangler" but we seemed to miss that opportunity,so hopfully next time. So until next time, Thanks to everyone down there and even greater thanks to Phil for the help and Dave and Sara Welch for another great trip.
