bclift65706 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I have had turkeys 20 yards from me lots of times when bow hunting and have never got a shot they always see me. Do you hunt from a blind or just that good? If a turkey had a deer nose to go along with their sight and hearing they would be almost imposible to kill.
Terry Beeson Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Nice bird, Slider... I've had turkey almost come up and peck the crumbs off my shirt in the Fall... But still not an easy take with a bow. You need to be in a stand, but that's still no guarantee. Tightline Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Well you know how many stories I've told about flinging arrows at turkeys down through the years and that I consider bagging a turkey with a bow one of the hardest feats of any kind of sport hunting. Now I know 2 people that have bagged turkeys with a bow this year, you and my son. Pic turned out pretty good too. Way to go!!
slider Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 bclift, there was a little bit of luck with this bird. im not really that good! i was in a tree stand, there were about 10 or 12 birds came in the foodplot and were going to cut across when they spooked from something and started right down toward my tree, i had a big branch that hid me preaty good so i could draw. when the first one steped out i let it fly. it was maybe 5 yards from the tree. i had spooked some birds that came in from the other direstion about half hour earlier. i dont know but it could have been the same bunch. this is the first year i have hunted this spot, and me and my daughter have killed 3 turkeys so fare, she killed hers in just about the same spot as i killed mine, funny thing i had set in a blind fore 2 days trying to kill my secound bird with a shotgun and hadnt seen nothing but deer, so i decided to try for one of those when i killed the turkey. ill be there first thing in the morning loking fore deer.(or another turkey). thanks everybody slider DONT EVER GIVE UP MOSES WAS A BASKET CASE ONCE!
