I am thinking about going down to BSSP early the 29th and staying until Saturday the 1st. Plan on camping in #5 like usual but with the end of the season on the 31st I don't know if they expect me to pull out that night. If so I guess I will try and get one in CG #1. Hopefully all the big trailers won't make fun of my little PUP.

Knowing that I will not be able to fish the park on Saturday I plan on hitting the river. Plenty of fishing there.

Anyone have any ideas?

Not sure on the regulations for overnighters at the park that night, but you can easily call and ask them at th store, they will know...

If you are hitting the river definitely use crawdad lures.. Fish are holed up in the bigger holes and coming out for food.. So everywhere that you see a big rock in the riffles.. you know what I mean, drag the lure across in front of the hole and they will turn on it.. I am giving away all my secrets, I had better stop! I seem to be hitting all the fish with those methods and the trusty John Boat while people cuss me from the bank! Deep and practically stationary is the trick though right now...

I was at Bennett the first day of catch and release last year. They had the gate just north of the check in hut closed to where you couldnt even get to campground loops 2-5. Call the lodge, they will tell you. Wouldnt want to get locked in by the gate. lol Last year loop 1 was full, we called the lodge and they opened a motel room for us to stay in the park.

I thought some of the rooms were open during the winter season. You just did not get daily service. I think I a few years back stay in one during catch and release season, heck I think the hot water heater did not even work. It was the year they had the store in the other building while remodeling was done to the current store. What year was that anyway 2004?

We just called the store and they said if we put a deposit down they would open up a motel room that was usually closed for us. They stated they could call in a maid to get the room ready and clean up after we checked out. I think you are right, there was no maid service during our stay. Campground loop 1 was full, they said alot of deer hunters staying there since it coincided with deer hunting opening weekend. That was opening weekend catch and release tho not Nov 1st. The ozarkflyfishers club always has their outing at Bennett the first weekend of catch and release, that was my first and only time to Bennett during catch and release. :D

I called last week to get reservations in the park for opening CR weekend. They said that they keep the duplex cabins by the spring open during the CR season and some motel rooms. All of the cabins were full for opening weekends, but they said they did have some motel style rooms open.

Thanks Hoosier, I thought I had it in my phone but apparently not. I am hoping to camp, hate to pay for hotel rooms. 18 per night vs double that at least. I don't use that much fuel pulling the pup down. Would like to stay till Saturday afternoon, I hear there is a guy down there that is trying to break into the guide business and has offered a demo (right Cadilla) on Saturday.

Thanks again.

It appears our good man Brittnbirds is trying to get himself some "Pro Bono" action at the expense of the "want-to-be" guide (the identity of the want-to-be guide will be keep secret to protect the innocent). ^_^

I'm just trying to think how I can scheme my way into this as well... :hmmm:
