Zack Hoyt Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I have been meaning to get up on the Elk for a while now and may have an opening in my weekend. Is there any section that is floatable? I plan on fishing, but am really just wanting to get out on the water. Doesnt have to be a long float at all......I usually dont rush my trips. Anyone is welcome to join also.....its nice to have someone with first hand knowledge of the water. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Members redfish Posted October 22, 2008 Members Posted October 22, 2008 Me and a buddy floated from Riverside to Mt. Shira on Mon. It was a good float with very little dragging. We caught a bunch of smallies and some goggle eye, biggest was probably 1 1/12lb to 2lb It was late afternoon we used a plastic worm before it got dark and top water after it got dark. It's only supposed to be in the mid 60's this weekend, so bring some warm clothes just in case. Have a good float.
Zack Hoyt Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Forgive the ignorance......where abouts is Riverside? I am very unfamiliar with the putins and take outs. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Members redfish Posted October 23, 2008 Members Posted October 23, 2008 Riverside is about 2 miles down the road from Hog Heaven on the right side of the road. There will be some small cabins on the left.
Zack Hoyt Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 We put in behind the gas station in Pineville and tok out at the low water bridge near the train tracks. What a great trip. Can't wait to do some more of this river. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/56833...host=good-times Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
