DoveTail Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I'm thinking about wearing a conservation agent costume on the stream from now on!! Now that is funny, that would be great to do, but my luck I would get charged with impersonating an officer. That may help if everyone wore MDC caps! But sounds like the attitude of some they really wouldn't care?
Members HeyYou Posted October 29, 2008 Members Posted October 29, 2008 I was at Taneycomo and an agent came up with a clipboard wearing a hat to ID himself. I immediately pulled out my license to present. He said he didn't want to see it, he was just taking a survey. I guess they did that so people would feel comfortable in talking to them in stating the number of hours fished, number and size of fish caught, opinion of the fishing conditions, etc. I was disappointed he didn't check my license out. I think everyone there probably has what they are supposed to. This guy was not an agent. In fact the only person that is authorized to take any type of law enforcement action in the Dept. of Conservation, is a Conservation Agent. They have a badge and a gun. All law enforcement officers must be certified by The Department of Public Safety's Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). There are investigative assistants in the department but they can only take information about the violation.
Don Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 If a violater ever asks if you are an agent, an appropriate reply would be "No, but I can get you one." Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
