mzrealfish Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Good evening all, Coming down the 28th-30th of November. Looking to do 20-25 miles. We fish non-stop. This time of year where do we want to be on the river? Option 1: 96.6 Mile Marker off Hwy. 7 to Roubidoux Option 2: Schlict Mill to Riddle Bridge Option 3: Roubidoux to the Big Piney We do at least two trips per year on the Gasconade and try to hit April and July. Heard November can be bang-up! What do we need to bring for the Bass? Thanks, Mark
Al Agnew Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Probably doesn't much matter which stretch you float--any of them are good. However, I wouldn't float any more than 5-6 miles per day. For one thing, in cold water periods the best lures are those you fish fairly slowly. For another thing, the days are short and you don't want nor need to get a real early start each day--the fish don't seem to get active until the sun hits the water--so you'll probably only be on the water 7 hours or so at most. It's a different ball game from spring and summer fishing. Some lures to try: jerkbaits like Rogues, Lucky Craft Pointers, and Rapala X-Raps; deep-diving crankbaits; jigs, and tubes. If you've got other favorite soft plastics, try them. Don't expect to catch fish on anything fast moving or near the surface...unless we get a lot of unseasonably warm weather between now and then.
