Chief Grey Bear Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Hey there hawgkiller Where are you at? I ask because I want to make sure which Spring River in Mo you are speaking of. One in western Missouri and one in southern Missouri. Both had trout at one time, that being the southern one. The one in western Mo, is still rumored to have them. I, myself, have not confirmed this though. Yet. Chief Grey Bear Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Well if you know they are there then you are a step a head of me. I haven't spoke to anyone in the last 20 yrs that has caught one. Now that does not mean they are not there. Sounds like Buzz and I need to make a little road trip and meet you there someday soon. Between the three of us, if they are there we should get one. mhall02 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Unfortunately there is no public land on this stretch of Spring. My Dad and I knew the landowners downstream from the 60 bridge, and had permission to fish that stretch. I also knew another spot but cannot remember the names of the roads. Be sure to get permission where you go. FYI the last time I fished it was in December of '91, so who knows what things are like there now. That is my fondest memory, caught a hooked jaw male in full spawing color, 3-4 pounds, and that fish jumped two or three times before I got him in. WOW, wish I had a camera.
