Okieflyfisher53 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 I fished a while on friday, Dec 26th. I only caught 1 small striper, 1 largemouth bass, and a few white bass. A couple of the white bass were pretty good sized. http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/ste...ristmas%20bass/ Theweekend before I only caught 1 hybrid. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/stevec53/IMG_0426.jpg The weekend before that was a little better. http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/ste...kansas%20River/ I will be hitting it pretty hard when the water is low enough to wade. Members swellcat Posted January 3, 2009 Members Posted January 3, 2009 Steve: Thanks for the reports on the excellent urban fishery you folks have there. Great looking fish. The presence of sauger there knocks me out. Do you ever target them? Next to February, isn't January about the best month for the toothy perch? Do you suppose that hybrid is a natural one, or is he a stocked fish who exited his designated water body? Did he outfight the stripers?
Okieflyfisher53 Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 sweelcat, I have only caught the sauger by accident while striper fishing. It is my understanding that the hybrids don't occur in nature, they are hatchery produced. The hybrids that I have caught fight harder than stripers of the same size. Steve
