RSBreth Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Just a little report. Fished the Finley above Ozark Tuesday, and it was a little, um, challenging. Cold water, but warmed a little by recent rains, just clearing up a little after a couple of days. Bass would hit IF you could get a suspending jerkbait to perfectly suspend, perfectly dead drift it in the current seem near cover, and perfectly detect a subtle "twock" of a fish that has stared at a lure for 20 seconds before inhaling it and slowly swimming away. So, pretty easy. Ha! Anyway, I caught a few, and the Finley is holding up pretty good through the winter, so far. Lure of the day was the regular suspending Rogue, blue back/orange belly/silver sides. Tuned.
Chief Grey Bear Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Way to go there RS!!!!! Those are a couple of really nice bass you got there! I read your blog on a goggle eye trip you did last summer. I was wondering if you would like to hook up and do a little of that on upper Flat Creek near Start City sometime? RSBreth Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 I'd love to hit Flat Creek sometime, if I ever get the time. Some weeks I need 8 days with about 30 hours in them. That's why I'm lucky to live so close to the James and Finley.
Buzz Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 You are right RS. It's nice to have good water close to home. When I was in High School in Springfield, ( many years ago) some buddies and I used to float the Jame River. I miss it., it's been too long. Oh yeah, the last time I was near the Finley, my buddies and I got harrassed a little by ( does anyone remember this guy?) Buff Lambs crew of deputies. They got our keg, if I remember right. At least they let us go home and not the Jail. Anyway, those are some nice fish you caught, and I also read your blog from time to time. Buzz If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Chief Grey Bear Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Whoops. I ment Star City. Sorry. Buzz - I think we need to add a float or two on the James and Flat to our 2009 schedule. Buzz Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 That sounds like a plan. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Fishhand Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Whoops. I ment Star City. Sorry. Buzz - I think we need to add a float or two on the James and Flat to our 2009 schedule. How about a spotted bass roundup float on the James sometime this Spring / Summer?
