How's the habitat improvement work going on this area? A while back I heard the ODWC and different organizations were in the planning stages of some sort of river habitat improvement. And because I haven't made it down there in a while and haven't heard anything else about I was thinking someone on here might know some more details on this to feed my curiosity.

I came across this Http://tulsaflyfishers.org/files/Watts_Plan_Powerpoint.ppt cool power point showing the plans. Edit: you have to copy paste the url for it to work.

Thanks in advance

If that is where I think it is then they have black-topped the road heading back there. I was there over the weekend. I saw a bunch of big rocks piled up. I was wondering what those were for. As far as I could tell, they haven't started placing those big rocks in the river, yet.

It was pretty crowded but I saw several people catching fish. I caught a few there and then we left to go get some lunch. I love those Jolly Roger Cheese Burgers. :D

If you fish the deep pools there, throw something with pink in it. I had an old beat-up micro jig with a few strands of pink marabou. Pulled a fish on the first cast.

We fished Marval after lunch and caught fish on black zebra midges, prince nymphs and even on a fly that I tied called an Eggy Worm Kenobi. I gave it to my Dad to try and the first one he threw was hit by a good sized fish that broke his line. I gave him another one and he pulled a couple fish out before we left. I'm new to fly tying and that was the first time one of my flies has caught fish. It was pretty exciting.

It's on the main drag as you go through Gore next to the bait shop. It's a little white building with lots of cars parked around it during the lunch hour. I think the high school mascot is the Pirate so the restaraunt is the Jolly Roger.

Yups, we be the Pirates...

Looks like it could be plenty of good water. I personally think it will turn out to be rather slow water though. Especially if they do not make the river narrower.

I remember that feeling. My first fish caught on my own fly was a big fat 17 1/2 in. rainbow. Caught it on a BH dark olive bugger. Then about 2 cast later I had an 18 1/2 in. rainbow on the same fly. Those big fish just love a dead drifted bugger.

I was asking myself why weren't they making the river narrower too. I think that would help the most. But overall I think it will help thin out the fishermen a little. You know those days when it's hard to find a good spot.

And can someone tell me what a Bankfull Bench is? I'm thinking its something like rocks pilled up along the bank for erosion control. If it is it could help make the river narrower too.

Not really sure as to what that is. I guess we'll see sometime sooner or later. I'm going to go down there are see if I can see any form/sort of improvement. I might try to upload some pictures if I have the time.
