Members BMOE Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 How are you rigging up for this river? Are you using a sink tip for your MOATS and crawdads with say a 3-4ft. tippet? Or are you using a floating line, long leader with the heavy flies? Normally I use the sinking line and short tippet for streamers and heavy nymphs, because its definately harder to throw them with a long leader on floating line. I'm thinking sink tip and 4x. What do you think thanks, BMOE
Brian Sloss Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 A sink tip would be fine. I ussually use a floating line when nymphing with a strike indicator above my MOAT, stonefly or whatever and then throw a dropper off that. That way I can adjust for depth easily. Normally you don't have to make ridiculously long casts around here so after a little getting used to it, the heavier flies are not that big a deal to cast. I use sinking lines for streamers normally around here. Bring stoneflies, crawdads (Don's Crawdads work well), Leeches, woolies, eggs, and san Jaun worms. We sell all of these at my shop (corner of 160 and 19 hwys in Alton) though I think we are out of San Jaun worms.
