Members zackroe Posted January 9, 2009 Members Posted January 9, 2009 I dont do much fly fishing, but am trying to get better at it. I usually just use a spinning rod. the fishing has been awesome the last 3 weeks, I went once a week for the last month. Yesterday I caught a 16 inch rainbow in the stretch between the two falls. while i was fishing there were fish every where for about fifteen minutes jumping out of the water eating some type of fly that was bouncing around on the surface, they were all around me it was very cool to see. Little tiny tanish white flies.
Zach Bearden Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 More than likely what you saw were midges. That is about all the we have down here. Every now and then I might see a Caddisfly or Mayfly. But the midges are usually on the water every day. Plenty of fun to fish with them if you can actually see the midge rofl. "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Members Trout Predator Posted January 11, 2009 Members Posted January 11, 2009 Yup, they were most likely midges. Maybe with all the vegetation washed out we might see some some other types of flies this spring.
