Tightline Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Waded around Powersite yesterday trying to catch some Walleye.Crappie,or Trout.Didn't catch anything but a few scrany bass. Was throwing a leadeye with my fly rod when I snagged some braided line, pulled in about 30 yds of line and found one of those big swim baits attached in perfect condition. As I walked the bank south I found 3 stickbaits and another half of a swim bait. 4 of the 5 found are in good shape after I cleaned the moss off.So I guess I payed for my gas down there.
Jason Essary Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 The black backed, silver sided xstickbait looks familiar. Lost one just like it last fall, , good hunting! Tightline Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Coyote, thats the 2nd one of those Rapalas I have found down there ,must be a good bait. Those swim baits are heavy, dont know how you could throw one in less than 20ft of water. The Striper guys must have been throwing them when the water was 30ft up.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I'm surprised you didn't find any Rogues. Did you catch any Bows? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Tightline Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 Wayne, the light purple backed one is a Rogue, and I'm pretty sure its custom painted.About half the stickbaits I own have been found and most of them are Rogues. Didn't catch any Trout,I thought the ole Pothole would be full of em. They are probably there I just couldn't trick them into biting.
