i was wondering if anyone has been down to see the how the new lodge and tackle shop was coming along or if they were still going to have it done by the first of march

Posted

The new park store does not even have a foundation yet, I doubt they'll have it ready before March 1st, if they do

they are really going to have to start working.

So far they have just done some dirt work, no construction had been started, at least not last week.

Maybe they done something today, but yesterday there was no work going on.

I'm not sure who is bulding it, if it is the state doing the work, it may take a long time :)

if they hired it out it will get done in a timely manner.

thanks tim what do you think about the move is it going to make it better and is it true about the high end rooms that they are going to be building in the old ccc lodge

depends on what kind of conctruction they do if it is just going to be a single story steel building with insulation they can have it up in a matter of weeks but if they try and stay with the same loook as the rest of the park you are right they won't have itdone for months

With the number of construction workers out of work they could get it done real quick. They shouldnt have any trouble finding help

I'm glad they are building the new park store, for me in my buisness it will be great, if

people are already in their cars, driving to the new store, it will make them that much more likely for them to come

see me, there won't be anymore of that walking in from the stream to get a soda or a sandwich.

I've heard all kinds of rumors about the old lodge, talk of making it into a Historical building.

restoring it like it used to be and renting out the rooms and I've heard that they might make it

into a nature center type of building. There really in no telling what the state might decide to do.

When the DNR is involved in something anything could happen.

Just curious, but what was wrong with the old shop etc and the fact you could walk and get a snack or drink? What is the reason for the new construction in the first place?

I didn't know they were building a new shop at RR? I have to admit to being a little saddened by that. That old building is really cool and has a lot of history. It has changed very little from my first trip there in 1976 (16 years of age for me). I sure hope they keep it going and open to the public in some fashion.

Yes it has lots of memories for me also, I have been going in that old lodge since

1969 or there abouts, I used to live in one of the rooms upstairs, lived in one every

summer for about 8 summers, man the fun I had.

It hasn't changed much in all that time, it has remained much

the same.
