Zach Bearden Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 So then, are any of you guys going fishing? I haven't got to fish with a buddy in a while and I've got some flies I want to try out! So if anybody is going give me a holler on here and I might just be able to go with ya! "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Danimal Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I plan on heading over there Saturday or Sunday (maybe both days). I'll post something Friday evening. Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
Members andrewim Posted January 16, 2009 Members Posted January 16, 2009 Hey guys I went today and it was wayyyyyyy to cold!!! I threw my fly in the water and when I was pulling my line back in ice was flaking off of it. Normally I love to fish when it is really cold but I literally could not today. Just not happening when it is this cold. Oh yea and they were running water also(I was trying to fish in a backwater) Ian
DaddyO Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Dang it!! I wish I was going. I've been down there the last 3 or 4 weekends and I think I have a few things to get done around the house this weekend. You guys be sure to post a report on how the fishing was. I've noticed that the Corp has been doing some minimal generation this week which should help the fishing down there. The weather is definitely supposed to be warmer than it has been the last few days. Have fun! DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Zach Bearden Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 I went down there after school and there were no generators running. So tomorrow morning I will be headed down there somewhere. Good luck guys "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Competed Czech Republic. 7th Place Team Member: 2010 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Danimal Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I arrived at Marval about 11:00 AM and hiked way downstream around the bend. Started off kinda slow. Switched to a little pink jig and picked up 3 fish pretty quickly, then started seeing midges flying as the day warmed up. Switched to a #16 zebra-type midge that I like (light tan thread/copper wire/black tungsten bead) and landed about a dozen the rest of the afternoon including a FAT 16 incher. Long distance released probably as many as I caught. Didn't catch the numbers I'd hoped for but enough to keep things interesting and it was a beautiful day to be on the river. Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
Zach Bearden Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 It was indeed a good day this morning. Mom and I caught probably 20 together at the dam and decided to go hit Marval. I caught over 30 in one hole right there in Marval. Hares ears are some good ol' boys eh? "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Mikey Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Zach, has the generation schedule been pretty accurate lately? I'm going to be coming up there next Sunday morning with my oldest son and my youngest brother-in-law. We'll be spin fishing so I don't go insane trying to deal with wind knots and the like. Just trying to get a feel to see if I may run into deep water or what. Also, have you been fishing any just under the dam, at the seam past the riffles? I guess it would be near the point everyone bank fishes. We caught a lot wading in from the opposite bank and drifting night crawlers there. Mikey Each time I buy a new fly............ My wife gives me the same look........ I give her when she buys another purse... ..............................
Zach Bearden Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 I don't tend to pay much attention to the schedule, mom is always the one freaking out about it. But I never do fish right over there. All I fish is fast water. The styles that I fish are much more likely to work up in the stuff people don't like to fish. "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Mikey Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 When I get my fly gear back in order we'll team up and you can show me your tricks. Each time I buy a new fly............ My wife gives me the same look........ I give her when she buys another purse... ..............................
