BadKarma Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 I certainly hope that a lot of people read this thread, because these are great examples of the outdoor practice of "layering". This is the number 1 weapon against hypothermia and really can save your life. Thanks everyone. Oh, as for me, poly sock liners, wool knee socks, silk bottoms (you should try them Dano ) fleece lounge bottoms, under armour top, fleece sweater hoodie, insulated vest and a weatherproof jacket if needed. I also have 2 pairs of gloves, neoprene/fleece fingerless and heavy mittens. Some of this may not be worn at the same time, but they are close at hand if needed. I am finding that the older I get, the colder it gets. Don't worry about life, your not going to survive it anyway. Go fishing instead.
Trout Stalker Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I use cheap sweat pants from Walmart and add either long underwear or a second pair of sweat pants that are one size larger. I do have fleece pants, but don't care for them.
troutchaser Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Just bought a one piece fleece zip up thinga ma bobber! Stayed at Phil's the week after xmas and while the wife and daughters were shopping in the outlet mall, my son and I went into the Coleman outlet store. That had Ducks Unlimited 2 piece and 1 piece fleece that were 30%, so they were $13! They work great! Only had size large and I really needed an XL, but they work. There's a Coleman outlet store in Branson? Who knew! As a native Springfieldian, I avoid Branson like the plague. I didn't know what I was missing. As for the OP, I usually have on polypro. liner socks with wool socks over them, running tights with flannel/fleece lined jeans (from Wal-Mart). I usually wear a poly long sleeve shirt, a fleece pullover, then my wading jacket. If it's really cold, I'll add another thin fleece top to this. As for gloves, I wear neoprene fishing gloves.
