Tom Spence Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Anybody been down to the ramps at Aunts Creek, Cape Fair, Ahoys, or Mill Creek yesterday or today? Wondering if the smaller roads to the ramps have melted off yet. Tom Spence Champion Boats http://championboats.com Luck E Strike USA http://martyconradfishing.com
Sam Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I just got a haircut here in Ozark, and my barber lives at Buttermilk Springs. He said YY was almost impassible even yesterday, but he made it through this morning without too much difficulty. From that, I'd guess the smaller roads around the lake are almost OK now, especially with 4wd. Ramps can be tough in freezing weather, though - especially if someone has pulled a dripping boat out before you launch.
Tom Spence Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 I'm looking at going Sunday so I'm not too worried about the ramp. I think its supposed to be in the 50's on Sat and mid 40's on Sunday so we should see some pretty good melting. I know though that some places on those back roads never see the sun in the low lying and shaded areas. Hopefully they'll melt off by then. Whack'emGood Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 We were thinking of going down tomorrow... I would say that everything will be melted off by Sunday, but I don't know about tomorrow. How are the side roads around Kimberling City? Has anybody been down to Mill Creek, Aunts Creek, or Joe Bald? I would hate to come down there, just to turn around and come back. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I don't know if it helps, but east of TR seems to have fared better, and the roads off the state routes are still covered. It is melting, I've probably lost 1/2" out of a 2 1/2" mix. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Tom Spence Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 Just got off the phone with Jeff at Ahoys. He said the upper roads by the Inn are ok but the lower road going to the ramp is pretty nasty. They've been grading it and he hopes it'll clear up tomorrow. Good news is he says no limbs or trees are down, just ice on the road. Tom Spence Champion Boats http://championboats.com Luck E Strike USA http://martyconradfishing.com
