back2roots Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hi Everyone, Got on the lake just after 10:00 this morning. More people than I thought we be there....nice to see! While I've still not had one of "those 30 fish days"......I did catch a few silver bullets as well as 8-10 nice male bows. Tried a new fly out: http://www.flyfishohio.com/Diawl_Bach.htm or the Little Devil. It was about 50-50 between it and a P & P about 18" below an indicator. Had to leave at noon or I just might've had me one of "those" days......but that's for another trip. Wind kicked up...but all in all.....a pretty good morning. Blessings! Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
Danoinark Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Excellent report Bill. Sounds like a great day. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
tippet7 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 i was out there as well and was also surprised at how crowded it was. i got there around 1145 and had my first fish on at 1148!! i started off using my O-Scud (ostrich herl, dubbing and peasant tail) and caught 3 more in the next 20 mins. the rebar hole was PACKED to the gills, the area between 1 and 2 was jam packed as well. so i stayed around # 2. caught a few on a #24 w/d 40, but the most came on a #22 griffiths gnat. i was hitting a seam and the fish were killing the fly as they hit the outside part of the seam. i wound up with maybe another dozen or so before i had to get out of the water at 140pm. the weather was beautiful and there was plenty of fish being caught. going to try to hit it again during the week. anyone going out this week at all??? You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
back2roots Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 Thanks Dano, It was a great day....right up until the time a got home and saw our sunroom doing an imitation of Niagra Falls...on the inside. Oh well, nothing else to but buckets...towels and wait for the rest of the roof to thaw..then fix it from there. A LOT less damage than I'm seeing from most folks! Blessings To All!! DaddyO Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Dad and I fished Taney on Sunday morning. Walked in at Outlet #2 and walked straight across to the other side. I tossed in a Black Zebra Midge and immediately got into a nice fish. You know how a fish splashes in the water and the pitch is kinda high if it's a small fish and has more of a bass sound for a big fish? Well, this was a nice fish with a deep bass splash and a big tail. I could see him in the water but I tried to horse him in and broke off on him. Pretty much all of our fish were caught on Midges, black or red. Here are a couple of fish that Dad caught. (He was schooling me at Taney and at Roaring River the day before.) I'll post the pic of the 4.5 lb fish he caught at Roaring River in that section. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
