Members LarryC Posted February 26, 2009 Members Posted February 26, 2009 There up to twin bridges on the White. There was a welcome committee of about 10 fishing from the banks. Most everybody was catching fish but it was slow. The big old sows are lagging behind as normal. I started trolling Rapala's couple of miles downstream from the bridge. When I got one I would stop and sometimes pick up another with a Rooster Tail. Water temperature 49 degrees and the river clears up pretty good above Blue Springs. I saw stripers ripping shad from the 412 bridge this morning on the way to town...shuda been fishing. Pardon me I must go clean fish. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
BlueWave Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Dang Larry!!!!!!!!!! I have 17 days until I can get down there to fish and you are seeing them from the Bridge. I really do need to retire.
hoglaw Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Haven't driven 45 in a while now. What's the water level like? Is it back to normal or still backed up like it was this summer? I sure would enjoy a white bass season without bass boats crusing around above the 45 bridge (no offense). I imagine with this week's warm weather, this weekend could see some action. Anyone taken a water temp reading lately?
Members LarryC Posted March 11, 2009 Author Members Posted March 11, 2009 Went up the White this morning after stripers. Not a bite. Started looking for white bass...easy to find the small males. Don’t know where the big sows are hiding. So...I settled for 10 white bass, and 4 crappie. Also caught a few short black bass. Excitement for the day was seeing a guy catch a spoonbill, maybe about 40 pounds. He hooked the fish on a small spinning outfit...said his line was braid so that was his salvation. Water temperature 58 degrees at the 412 bridge and warming upstream to 60. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
Members onedone Posted March 11, 2009 Members Posted March 11, 2009 Got into big females and smallish hybrids in the mudflats above Neils Bluff saturday, nothing above or below, water temp was 56, burning a bone colored rattle trap in 4-8 feet of water. Lots of shad sunning in the flats. We were after crappie but welcomed the action with the whiteys and hybrids.

Members LarryC Posted March 11, 2009 Author Members Posted March 11, 2009 First bluff downstream from the islands...a long ways upstream from the 412 bridge. Next time you get down this way our striper club meets second Tuesday of the month 7PM at the Golden Corral in Rogers. I caught a couple of hybrids also...they were the same size as the whites. Didn't have a bite until I was upstream of the islands about a mile or so. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
