Members jeremy1979 Posted March 2, 2009 Members Posted March 2, 2009 I am planing on going back to the lake on Friday when the temp will be climbing up to 70 degrees. I will be going for LMB. Does anybody have any pointers on which bait I should use and which areas to focus on. Thanks

If not, try the Ha Ha Tonka area (Big Niangua arm). Or up on the Little Niangua arm. ... But, I'm an outsider, the regulars know better than me, though. wader
405z06 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 it's a really big lake..where will you be at? My first trip each Spring at LOZ always includes Wiggle Warts on main lake and secondary points. Not all points are equal, so don't give up if you get skunked on the first one.

About two weeks ago, I was up in the Gravios Arm, but got nothing. I tried suspending jerkbaits, jigs, and wacky worming. Last year was my first year getting out to the lake and being a drill sergeant, I didn't get much oppurtunity to explore the lake. I will probably be going to the Niguana Arm on Friday.
vacation Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I have been fishing LOTO every year for 20 years. I now usually go up in May, but have been many many times in late march--april. I dont know water temp up there, but usually there is a strong bite with wiggle warts and rouges on secondary pts, 90% of my fishing is grand glaize arm/area. if you find some, try throwing a carolina rig lizard, black/red flake, and i bet you get bit that way too LOTO is a great fishery and not that hard to get on fish...good luck, you'll do fine

Yeah, some of the best points in the lake are in the Glaize right there by PB2. And they all get a ton of pressure, but they produce year after year. And there are a couple of points that you will overlook without a topo map (Robin's point and the one directly across from it). The Glaize right there at the 54 bridge/PB2 area is one of my favorites at the lake.
Members jeremy1979 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Members Posted March 4, 2009 I appreciate all of the input that everyone has given me. I will try the Glaize arm. I should be able to find the secondary points without a problem with the humminbird SI and map pack. I will let you all know how it works out for me. Thanks.
CMAC Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Don't be afraid to try for them crappie on those secondaries. Good Luck!
Members Deep-V-Fisher Posted April 2, 2009 Members Posted April 2, 2009 What area will you be at? Like other people have said it is a big lake and you normally dont have to travel far to find a good spot. I will be up there this weekend and mainly fishing on the 4th (sat).... normally i am a late spring / summer fisher on the lake but i am looking to find some early spring action. Chompers always produce for me along with deep diving crank baits. Good luck Adam Boat ~ Fisher Deep V 19' Main Lake ~ LOTO

There is an amazing bass fishery below the dam. Large numbers of spots can be had about any time of the year. However, right now you can't keep back bass below the dam (if you would even want to).
