Members warlock Posted March 6, 2009 Members Posted March 6, 2009 Here's the most difficult fly I have tied to date. I had to modify the pattern a little bit, such as adding gray squirrel tail instead of partridge barbs for the legs. But you get the picture. G Nymph side view. G Nymph top view And now the link to the original recipe. G Nymph Recipe I hope the fish like it as much as I do....
Danoinark Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Good looking bug. I bet the fish do like it. Let us know. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Members warlock Posted March 6, 2009 Author Members Posted March 6, 2009 I will be testing it out this Sunday at RRSP, when BadKarma and I get together there. I will be sure to report back how it works.
Don Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 An intimitading looking fly. Is there a recipe somewhere? Thanks, Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Members warlock Posted March 7, 2009 Author Members Posted March 7, 2009 The recipe is below the last pic, highlighted in red. I substituted gray squirrel tail for the legs, I didn't have any partridge.
Don Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Thanks, My apologies for the oversight. Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Members warlock Posted March 7, 2009 Author Members Posted March 7, 2009 No thing. It was kinda easy to miss.
trout fanatic Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Sweet pattern warlock. By all means, please let us know how you did with it.
DoveTail Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Where did you find the thread for the gills and the body wrap? I haven't looked for those specifically, but don't recall ever seeing that type. It looks tasty to me, I hope the trout like it and you catch a lot.
Members warlock Posted March 8, 2009 Author Members Posted March 8, 2009 DoveTail, It looked like embroidery floss to me, so that's what I used. The floss has 6 individual strands, tie it in and split it into the individual strands. The body is floss too, I just used 2 or 3 strands instead of all 6 that it comes with. You can pick up the floss at any big box craft store, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Joann's....I think Walmart carries it too.
