I was just curious about the Meramec River between Steelville Ford and Meramec Spring Branch. This is listed as a part of the Red Ribbon Trout Area, but I imagine it gets too warm in the summer. Does anyone catch any dring the cooler seasons in this part of the river, or do they just not exist?

In the past I have caught and heard of a few bows being caught as far up as Cooks Station during the winter months.

If you know where Cooks Station is at that's quite aways up river so it's not unheard of.

There is one spot above the hwy 8 bridge that is supposed to hold decent numbers of trout...never fished it just hearsay...may be one of those nasty fishing rumors, lol.

My friends say I'm a douche bag ??

Interesting... I done pretty well wade fishing for smallies and goggle -eye between Highway 8 and the spring branch, but I've never even seen a trout. It's such pretty water just upstream from the spring branch, I think even prettier than below, and it would be nice if there was some decent trout fishing to be had.

During the weekend of the derby in the spring park, I fished just up from the park actually expecting more bass than anything.. But i ended up pulling two twenty inch rainbows out of one of the runs i fished. There arent many fish but the ones i hooked up to were beauties for the area.

P.S. The attached fish is a decent 25 inch fish I landed inside the park. The big ones always lay deep..

Tight lines always!
