Members 3outfishing Posted March 12, 2009 Members Posted March 12, 2009 We are new to Beaver lake. Would like to show my 9 year what a striper is like as well as catch my first one. Looking for information on getting bait near Ventris launch. Where would the closest bait shop be that would have shiners and such. Would be coming in from Missouri on 37 and going through Garfield.

There are no bait shops on that side of the lake that I know of. If you come into Rogers you can go to Hook Line & Sinker on Hwy 12 and get anything you need. Best bait shop around!

Does Prairie Creek or a marina near Ventris that has bait. It's a long way around to Rogers.
Samkam1 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Barnett's Pawn Shop in Garfield usually has some decent bait. That place in Rogers rarely has decent striper minnows but they have good crappie minnows and other bait/tackle.
zarraspook Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Barnett's Pawn Shop in Garfield has 4 different size of bait... They have some 3-4 inch ( they call them striper minnows ) which I have caught striper up to 25 lbs.... most caught 6-10 lbs range..... thier 2.5-3 inch ( they call them bass minnows ) will catch stripers but, they really catch alot of smallmouth and kentucky's !!!!!...... (They get fresh bait on thursdays )... I also go down 37 and I usally stop there inless they are out of bait.. I call both Barnett's (877-997-5499) and Hook, Line & Sinker (479-831-8118) (in Rogers) to see what bait they have, before I leave home (Willard, Mo)..... I have been going to Lost Bridge area , every spring, for 12 years and I look forward to it more & more each spring.... If you have any other questions...Let me know..... Members 3outfishing Posted March 15, 2009 Author Members Posted March 15, 2009 Thank for the info Samkam1 and zarraspook. We live in Nixa and Beaver is just to close to not make a couple trips down a year to give them a try. Ventris seems like a good midpoint in the lake to try. Last year we made it down to Starkey, caught lots of fish but no stripers. The nine year old enjoys fishing aslong as he is busy, doesnt matter wether he is catching them or not. Has anyone had any luck this year with the stipers.
Members LarryC Posted March 16, 2009 Members Posted March 16, 2009 I’m thinking of trying Click here...Black Saltys. Anybody else use them? A family member started using them last year in Kansas for big flatheads and had some success. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
jay bird Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I have never used bait for Stripers on Beaver, but this limits most of my fishing to top water. I use Red Fins, Pencile poppers, and Zara Spooks with fair success. I usally put in at Lost Bridge south or around the Dam at either the Dam site launch or Indian. Each of these may be a little closer than Ventris and as far as I know Ventirs does not have a Dock. Good Luck there are some guys here that Slay the fish with bait so they would be a great resource.
BlueWave Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Does anyone know if Barnetts in Garfield carries crickets? ( and no, I dont plan to use them for Stripers ................
taxidermist Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 There is some new restrictions on bringing live bait to certain striper lakes in Arkansas, better check with the AGFC before doing so.
