Chief Grey Bear Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Here are your Friday Fishin' Foto's for this week. These were taken at a strip pit at Shawnee Trail CA. The year was 2005 and Dylan was 6 and Sis was 4. Thankyou MDC for providing this area for my family and I to create another great moment in their childhood! Love to see kiddos fishin and havin fun! We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.

zander Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 What exactly is a strip pit? I am thinking from a strip mine but that looks like a creek to me.
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 14, 2009 Author Posted March 14, 2009 You are correct Zander. It is from strip mining. This paticular area is in western Barton county near the state line and just south of the town of Mindenmines. This was coal country. http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/moatla...amp;txtAreaNm=s This will tell you about the area. There is another area west of Rich Hill that has some pits that I like to fish. Come on down some time and I will take you there and show you around.
