Members BassMaster2 Posted March 14, 2009 Members Posted March 14, 2009 The Most successful springtime lures you have found for Largemouth at Lake Of the Ozarks: 1) 3/8 oz Shakeyhead jig w/ 5 inch chartrues/pepper finnesse worm
FishinCricket Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Largemouth at the lake? Not sure.. Now... Smallmouth in prespawn? I rely on Silver topwater minnow poppers, the smaller the better. Overall suggestion from me for Bass fishing in the spring? Deep and slow until it warms up, then a swift transition towards the top for relentless action. Good thread topic cricket.c21.com
smallmouthjoe Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 the best springtime bass rig is a 4'' senko wacky rigged. I can fish it as fast or as slow or as swallow or deep as I want simply by adding or taking away weight. Colors of choice are watermelon red when the sun is shinning or green pumpkin when it's cloudy.
Members hambone80 Posted March 15, 2009 Members Posted March 15, 2009 For spring smallies or thier largemouth cousins I prefer to use a jig n' craw combo for the big uns.
smallmouthjoe Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 That is one bad thing about the senko, I usually don't catch as many big fish with it. But i always catch a lot of fish with it.
brownieman Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Is live bait considered a lure?, dumb question huh, lol...probably not but thats what all lures try to mimmick. Speaks volumes to me. Live bait is a hassle to get and keep alive but the power of it has been proven time and time again over the years for me. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
creek wader Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I'm far removed from being a good fisherman, I'm just a man that likes to fish. So, never take my advice on anything. But, here's my two bits, anyway .... I use soft plastics..#1 senko type, then any of the following in any order, plastic craw imitations, plastic salamander imitations, twister tails, jig and pig ... that's just me though, I"ve never done well on spinnerbaits or crankbaits wader

But my true favorite is to throw nightcrawlers off the points this time of year, always works well for me. By the way, I have no idea about LOZ, but I am just saying what works in the little reservoir I fish in Eastern Missouri.
