Members fish_in_a_lund Posted March 24, 2009 Members Posted March 24, 2009 What's the smallest caliber handgun you'd use on feral hogs? Would my 45ACP do?
brittsnbirds Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 .45? Doubt it unless you get a well placed shot. You would be better off with a .357 +P+! .45 doesn't have enough penetration or umph. The .357 has the speed and impact. Best pistol would be something like a .44 mag or one of the new exotic high power caliber pistols.
Members billynwtf Posted April 28, 2009 Members Posted April 28, 2009 Most of the wild hogs that I have seen weighed under the 200 pound mark. Your 45 would do the job but I would use it only in a backup purpose. If you want to hunt them with a pistol go with the 44 mag with aleast a six inch barrel. The 357 mag will also put down a hog but I would go with the 44mag.
