Members jnorman Posted March 27, 2009 Members Posted March 27, 2009 Just got back from the tailrace. Got there about noon and they were generating pretty strong. We were fishing on the west side. In a couple hours, we caught six hybrids and three walleye. The hybirds were in the 3-5 pound range and the walleye in the 5-7 pound range. After that they stopped running water completely and the bite completely stopped. We fished for a little longer with no luck and then went and got something to eat. We came back about 5:00 and went to the east side. We didn't have any luck over there, just some really small whites. About that time they turned the generators back on and we went back to the west side and got back into the hybrids. We called it quits about seven with 11 or 12 hybrids and 3 walleye. All in all not a bad day. The best time to fish is when it's raining . . . and when it's not!
creek wader Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Good report. Those hybrids are a lot of fun. One thing for sure below the dams. No generation, no bite, plain and simple. wader

It is not as close as at Bagnell which is around 225 feet I think. Truman is 525 feet on the east side and 977 on the west side. I didn't see to many bait fish, but we were bank fishing all day. I'm pretty sure there were quite a few around though. There were a lot of seagulls around and they were pulling bait fish out of the water all day. Also, I forgot to mention that the walleye we caught still had their eggs so they have not spawned. The best time to fish is when it's raining . . . and when it's not!
