I just got a 14' Fisher Marine jon boat. It had a 20 hp motor on it but for reasons I'll never come to grips with I decided not to buy it with the boat. It sold by the time I tried to go back to buy it. Soooooo, I am in the market for an outboard for this boat. I don't know what the maximum hp is for it since that part of the safety ticket wore off, but I imagine it would be 20-25 hp. The boat will mainly be used on Taney and Upper BS but could always take off the motor and use the trolling motor around Springfield Lake.

What do you guys think would be the best size engine to get for it for the places I'll be fishing? And if you happen to have one for sale please let me know.

Thanks.

25 would probably be to big.

I had a 25 yam. on a 22 X 32 river jon and it was dangerous fast!!! Icuurently run a 15HP merc 4 stroke on it and its great, easy very easy on gas still pretty fast.

If you are going to buy a new motor, Arts In Little Rock has some new 2 stroke Yam. because of the weight I certainly would look hard at the two strokes!!! About 75 lbs lighter on the 25 hp.

But another thing is if you can buy at BPS, I did I did not have to pay sales tax on my motor last year.

I have a Johnson 6 horse motor for sale It needs a tune up but it does run ok the way it is. I used it on a 14' john boat for years. It's no speed boat motor, but you can run it all day on a couple gallons of gas. I am asking 300.00 OBO. Let me know if your interested. Dave

I have two motors, I have a 2004 25 hp Johnson/Bombardiar I will take $1700 for, it is a great motor, just ran it Thursday at Norfork. Also, I have a 4 stroke Honda 15 Hp. I'll take $1200 firm for it. I don't know the year model, but the man I bought it from said it was a mid 90's. It is a great motor as well. I don't think he ran it much--he bought it new locally in Mtn. Home and had it stored in a boat storage at Mallard Point. He was 82 yrs old and didn't fish anymore, so I bought his boat, motor, trailer and i already had a motor, so I don't need the Honda, but they are great engines. Oh, the Johnson I bought new in 2005, and I am the original owner. It is well worth the money and it is a 2 stroke. Both are great engines.

Bulll shoals lake boat dock has brand new yamaha 9.9s for around $1900. For about $100, these motors can be converted to a 15 hp. They come with warranty.
