I know a clouser works good, but does any one have a favorite fly for white bass that they just tear them up on?

Haven't tried it yet on them. But, I'd say a crystal minnow in white or grey/white, tied on #2 or #4. Weighted of course, or with a split shot to get it down to em. But, it's only a guess.

Quite similar to a clouser but easier and faster to tie. Size 6 (I use an aberdeen style hook available at wally world). White marabou tail. and White estatz wound up the hook and over the eyes to hide the tie in spot. Go fishin. Works great on crappie and bass too. Edit to add that I tie in bead chain eyes.

I like to tie a 1/80th oz or 1/100th oz jig with grey marribou tail and a grey chennelle body with a red or pink band of chennelle around the head. Have been using for years and have no problem limiting out on big sows every year

They are like most other fish. Their response to a fly, or lure can change with their mood, weather, time of day, time of year, etc. That said, I'll use a pearl sparkleminnow on them 80% of the time...about a sz 6, or 4.

But, there are times when they want a topwater fly. Then I use a 4x long, sz 4 hook. I'll use a foam cylindar for the head(front half of the hook shank), estaz for the back half of the hook shank), and a short tail of bucktail...in all white.
