Bman Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Dad and I are usually throwing flies down there but Im gonna advise keeping the spinning rod close at hand. Last time we went down it was pretty crowded for fly fishing and if you have a spinning combo(bait or jig) you can get in there and do battle a little better. Good luck and enjoy your trip! P.S. That 6WT my dad gave me might be overkill at times but ive thanked my lucky stars I had it and a big net more than once down there! Matt, ya dropped a dime on us, now we're in the cheese chuckers class...folks we never do that Unless I have Matt's lil sister with us or maybe the grandkids "ive thanked my lucky stars I had it and a big net more than once down there!" don't thank your lucky stars...just thank yer 'ole man... The only good line is a tight line
Bman Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 dipydog, If you are going soon you will have high, cloudy water! Check this out http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=07013000 The only good line is a tight line
ozark trout fisher Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Yeah, expect combat fishing. Last time I went a guy waded up right in front of me and I tried to tell him what he was doing, but he wasn't listening. I saw a trout right by his foot, cast to it, and caught it on a pink jig. Served him right. That's just how fishing Maramec Spring Branch is. You will find zero solitude in the spring branch, although you can find a little in the Meramec River down below.

Thats what I call speaking the truth bro. Not to mention doin the right thing by letting the guy know that HE IS STEPPING ON THE FREAKIN FISH!!! LOL
tippett7 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I would try the water below the bridge. Less people and lot more fish.
