OKFlyFisher44 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I got down there around 3:20 after work. Got all geared up with waders, boots, and pack....started to put my rod out of my tube and realized I'd left my darn reel at the house on the fireplace mantle. I was POed at myself. I was in such a hurry this morning throwing my gear in the truck and trying to not be late for work that I just ran off and left it... The water looked great when I got there but by the time I drove the 30 minutes home to get my reel...the water had already risen back over 1000 cfs so I decided against going back to Zink. Phil...the next time the water is down drop me a message or I'll send you one...we'll do some fishing! Sounds like you were fishing the right areas with the right presentations...the fish mighta just been off today with all the high water we've had. I usually catch at least a few fish in the big hole in front of the low water dam even if it is a little crowded. Just gotta dodge all the lead flying by your head from the bucketeers! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
DaddyO Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Chance...I'll keep my gear in the truck. Maybe we can go out some evening after work when the water is right. What size clousers and deceivers should I be using? Right now, I've got them all tied on #6 hooks. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Hopper Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Hey Phil, I tie most of my clousers on #2 and #4's. With this rain it may be a couple of more weeks before they slack off of the generation again, but with this cold weather I dont think the water temps have been high enough long enough for stripers to spawn. Gregg The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.
DaddyO Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Gregg, Thanks for the feedback. I just got some #4's. I thought I'd tie up some more clousers and I got some estatz and marabou to tie up some schminnows also. I was thinking it may be a couple of weeks before the water drops and warms up also. I'm looking forward to trying this again. Thanks guys for the input. Phil DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
