binman Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Last year I fished Springfield almost 3-4 times a week and man alive we would fish tight to some banks where the tree's over hang I had I can't tell you how many snakes fall out of the tree's into the water next to my boat. Mid-Summer I went out with a buddy and we had to have seen over 50 snake's right in the channel by the park just on that one short stretch of bank. I would say you can put any boat in there period if the props not on it then the boat won't move. One more thing that i would also do is not be in possesion of a key or a prop of course. I have seen a ton of people do it even if MDC was there and they did not seem to mind so I would say your okay but might want to try calling and asking first to avoid the hassel or a ticket. Binman, I know that when I fished it we saw quite a few as well but never like the one day described above kinda takes the fun out of fishing at least from shore when there are more snakes than fish. However if the fish are biting I will put up w/ a few snakes. Also Springfiled is a good lake especially below the dam when there is water going over it. I have caught a lot of LM and cats. We also used to catch a lot of Carp, some good sized gar and an occasional spoonbill. Lots of fun on light or ultra light tackle. I always had a lot of luck catching mixed bag of fish on crckets rigged about 3-4 feet below a weighted bober w/ a bb size split shot about 8 inches above the cricket. Throw it right up in the water coming off the dam and keep an eye on the bobber any twitch set the hook.
