Ok, Folks need some imput or and suggestions, I just Pickup my new 09 boat today and well it has Lowrance units for now... I have a LCX-27c on the dash and a LMS-520c on the front.. Here is what I want to do.. I want to move the LCX-27c to the nose and the LMS-520c to the console.. Can I do this without changing transducers, a basic switch.. Can it be done or do these have special transducers for each???

Also here was my toad for the day, nice spotted bass on a Jig.. Really did not have time to fish needed to get the boat ready, but I just could not help it..

Thanks for any help..

Should not be a problem, I did the exact same thing with am LMS 520 and an LCX 28C. I like having the larger unit up on the bow, especially for dropshotting.

Cap. Don on your ? about the low rowrance I think the transducer will interchange, but not 4 sure. You could check with a lowrance person maybe online. By the way what kind of new rig did you get,and congrats on it.

Hey congrats on the new boat Don, how exciting ! :)

My first thought reading your thread was.......I would put the 27c at the bow and the 520 on the console, and I'm glad to hear you're going to take that route.

As far as the transducer connector is concerned between the two units, you'll have no problems just swapping the two units without having to change the transducers. Both units use the same "Blue" connector. It does not matter if one transducer has a seven pin blue connector or a 5 pin blue connector. Both type, 5 or 7 pin blue connector transducer interchange.

Now for some exciting news about those two units. Those two units can be linked together with a "network" cable. Going from memory the cable cost around $20.00 dollars from "MARINE REPAIR CENTER" in Springfield ( 417-833-9191 )

What the network will do is allow you to share way points between the two units. Say your idling around and you find a brush pile, you mark the weigh point on your console 520 and it will be automatically sent to your 27c. Now all you have to do is shut your big motor off, hop up to the front deck and troll over to the marked weigh point ( brush pile ) on your 27c.

Also, I will make another reply in this thread and tell you ( if you what to know ) how to check to see if you have the latest version for your 520 and 27c. If you don't have the latest and greatest version, I can down load it for you on a chip and then you can down load it on your 27c. It would be my pleasure to help you out.

S&M thanks for the information.. I will check out the pins in the morning.. And yes Let me know how to check the version on both.. Will these use a basic SD card? My Humminbirds did and that was nice..

Let me know and thanks again for your help!!

Yes, a standard SD card will work for both Lowrance and Hummingbird.

The latest and greatest version for both the 520c and the 27c is " Version 2.4.0"

How to see if your LMS-520C and 27C is already using version 2.4.0 software. You will need to check each unit.

1) Press the MENU button twice on your LMS-520C or 27c

2) Select SYSTEM SETUP.

3) Select SOFTWARE INFORMATION.

4) The software version for your unit is located under the line that says "LMS-520C or 27c" when your looking at that units version (ex. "Version 2.4.0").

If your version is the same version listed above, ( Version 2.4.0 ) there is no need to download the software.

Don,

The SD cards will go in the unit however if you're trying to load your waypoints it will not. I've got the program to convert call me when you get back from KC tonight. I'll be at home.
