nwaoutdoorsman Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 It was a great day to be on Beaver. Best day I've had there in awhile. The wife and I put in at twin coves around 10 and started fishing right there. First fish I caught was a 3lb spot on a blade. Caught a couple shorts and then a 4lb LM and then a few shorts and 15-16" fish. We left there and fished a point and pocket in Van Hollow with no bites. Ran to North Clifty and started fishing windblown pockets still throwing a blade. We caught several keepers both LM and spots, we had 2 4lbers and 5 3+lbers. We threw a war eagle 3/8 green shad with double willows. I saw several beds, but the wind was blowing enough that I never could make out any fish on them. Saw a couple boats that looked to be sight fishing, but we never tried that since they were eating the blade so well. Hopefully they'll bite as well tomorrow. I cant wait to get back out there. Water temps were mostly around 65, but I did see water as warm as 70.
nwaoutdoorsman Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 Fished Beaver again today. Same areas and tried to run the same pattern, but without the clouds and overcast skies it just didnt work as well. Caught several shorts and 12'' spots on the blade, but no good fish. Ran towards the dam and threw a grubs on pea gravel points and caught several short smallmouths with one keeper about 2lbs. Left there and went to Moulder where we found some calmer water and started sight fishing. Saw alot a good fish on beds with a few locked on and willing to bite. Saw several in the 2-3lb range and one about 5lbs, but we couldnt get her to bite. Caught all our sight fish by pitching a wacky rigged senko on the beds in green pumpkin.

Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
